With much
regret and sorrow, we announce the passing on January 1st. of
Harold Hooper, our long-time friend and member of
the McGuire Music family. He began teaching
guitar at McGuire Music in 1972 and for the next 37 years taught
hundreds of students, young & old, to love and appreciate playing
the guitar. " The Doctor" was also one of Lafayette's most
respected guitar repair men. He was a gifted performer and played
guitar for many years in local bands as well as performing solo on
classical guitar. The Harold Hooper Music Trust Fund
has been established to provide music lesson scholarships for those who
cannot afford private instruction. Those who wish to contribute to
this fund may do so through McGuire Music. |
McGuire Music & Sound
is an independent music company founded in 1971 by local
Lafayette musicians Dan McGuire and David Grimes. Dan left the business
and moved to California in 1981, but Dave Grimes along with partner Don Leuck
and a talented staff of music professionals continue to grow the business & work
every day to improve the service to our long-time loyal customers.

is a member of
NAMM,
the National Association of Music Merchants, an
organization whose goal is to lead and strengthen the music products industry
and to increase active participation in music making.
